I Discovered A Brisbane Chiropractor After A Sports Injury
I was in a lot of pain after a sports injury I received while playing Netball. As I twisted to throw the ball I heard and felt a loud pop in my left knee. I had torn my Meniscus and Crucial ligament. I was going for physiotherapy but my injury wasn’t getting any better. I was told by a specialist that I would need knee surgery but having three young children I just couldn’t afford the recovery time. I was told I’d be off my feet for a long while.
A friend suggested chiropractic treatment which I didn’t think would be of any benefit to a knee injury, I associated chiropractors with back pain, neck pain, sciatica and herniated discs. To save myself from surgery I decided to opt for chiropractic management as my pain was slow in improving. I saw a Brisbane chiropractor who was a chiropractic specialist experienced in sports medicine and also kinesiology which is about muscle energy.
He explained to me that I had a twisted pelvis and because my body was out of alignment my knee had been weakened and eventually gave out. I also had tight hip flexors and needed a course of spinal manipulation. Technically he explained that vertebral joint misalignments or vertebral subluxations interfered with the body’s function and its inborn ability to heal itself. I couldn’t believe the results. After just one treatment I was able to walk better, I had been using a walking stick but after two treatments I could walk the length of the chiropractor’s hallway unaided.
My health improved so much after that. Every day my knee became stronger until I could walk properly. I still couldn’t squat but it wasn’t long before I could do that too. I had avoided surgery.
I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if I didn’t visit a chiropractor. I’m certain my knee would not have healed, how could it if my spine was out of whack. I would have then had to go for surgery but my original problem would still have been there.
That lesson taught me how important spinal health is and how chiropractic clinics are important to our well being. I try to look after my posture and do back strengthening exercises. I find Yoga to be great especially these days when people tend to sit at computers for long hours.
So you see chiropractic care is not just for backaches but for so many others ailments you may not have thought of. I have also had neck manipulations done to give me long term headache relief. A holistic chiropractor can help with a range of musculoskeletal complaints. Spinal manipulations or spinal adjustments are the most common form of chiropractic treatment but neck and cranial adjustments are also used.
Some ailments that can be helped by chiropractic care are herniated disc, pinched nerve, bulging disc in neck, back pain, ruptured disc, sciatica, fibromyalgia, muscle spasms, degenerative disc disease, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines and tension headaches. Chiropractic management can even extend to chronic pain management.
I can recommend a couple of Brisbane chiropractors whom I feel are professional and are represented by the CAA (Chiropractic Association Of Australia). I will also provide links to helpful sites about Chiropractors that can help you make an informed decision.
